AIDA Cruises announced that they will be cancelling their Caribbean season due to low ticket sales. This comes on the heels of a string of bad luck in which Aida lost one ship and saw its share price drop by nearly 20% this week alone. It’s unclear what exactly is causing these losses, but it could all come down to the fact that cruise lines are looking at other options for making money like staying home or using cryptocurrency payments instead.

AIDA Cruises, which is owned by Carnival, has decided to concentrate on only two ships in the Caribbean, resulting in the cancellation of one more ship in the area. For the remainder of the winter season in the Caribbean, AIDAluna cruises have been canceled.
Caribbean Cruises with AIDAluna have been canceled.
For the balance of the Winter 2021-22 season, the cruise company has opted to concentrate on only two ships in the Caribbean. As a consequence, AIDAluna sailings from January 29, 2022 to February 26, 2022 have been canceled.
Sailings from the Caribbean to Hamburg, Germany, have also been canceled, with departure dates ranging from March 6 to March 30, 2022.
“We have already enhanced our thorough safety and hygiene precautions as a precautionary step due to the shifting framework circumstances in recent weeks,” AIDA Cruises stated in a statement. We have decided to focus our offer on two AIDA ships in the Caribbean and to interrupt the Caribbean program of AIDAluna for the remaining winter season 2021/22 in order to continue to offer you a comfortable holiday with the highest possible safety and the usual service despite the current situation.”

The AIDAperla, which is now sailing from Barbados and the Dominican Republic, and the AIDAdiva, which is also currently sailing from the Dominican Republic, will primarily concentrate on Caribbean excursions.
For the AIDAluna cancellations, AIDA did not go much great information. It’s to ensure that customers have a wonderful cruise holiday while being secure by concentrating on only two ships. The cruise company also said that, as a result of the current developments, it has already strengthened its policies.
The AIDAluna, a 69,200 gross ton ship, will begin sailing on March 30, 2022, from Hamburg, Germany.
Guests who have been impacted
Guests who have reservations on the disrupted sailings will be compensated. There is still time to book a trip on one of the two remaining ships operating in the Caribbean. Guests may book cruises on AIDAdiva until the final departure on March 5, 2022, during the current season. By the ultimate departure on March 31, 2022, there is also the option of choosing the newer AIDAperla.
As a thank you for booking on the other two ships, AIDA Cruises is providing a 500 Euro onboard credit per cabin. It’s worth noting that the credit is only valid for the current Caribbean winter season and cannot be combined with other offers.
There is the possibility of booking another AIDA Cruises voyage until March 21, 2022. The onboard credit, on the other hand, is contingent on the duration of the cruise.
