Carnival Cruise Line is giving out an update on the number of guests who will be able to board their cruise ships in time for departure. The latest announcement says that there are still a few more days before they reopen, but this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t book your next vacation with them.
Carnival Cruise Line updates guests on reopening exemptions. The company has been experiencing a large number of passengers who are not up to date with the required vaccinations, and they have created an exemption process for those who cannot get their shots in time. President Christine Duffy of Carnival Cruise Lines sent out a letter to passengers informing them on the extension of the health and safety requirements, as well as the much-discussed vaccination exemption policy.
Carnival has begun accepting exemption requests for voyages in the first three months of 2022, after the CDC and FDA approved vaccines for children aged 5 to 11, and the cruise company extended its guidelines until at least March. The cruise company, on the other hand, is running out of room for unvaccinated children and adults.
Carnival Exemptions are available till March 2022.
The vaccine exemption policy for children and others who are unable to be vaccinated is back available for voyages through March 2022, after the cruise line stopped the exemption requests in early October while it awaited the CDC and FDA’s conclusions on children’s vaccines.
Despite the fact that customers may now seek exemptions again, the cruise company claims it is unable to accept the amount of exclusions sought, according to the letter:
“We’re reopening the cruise exemption procedure until March 2022. Given our prior sailing experience, the number of exemptions we’ve been able to issue is significantly less than the number of requests we’ve received.”
Carnival Cruise Line is one of the few cruise lines that has a vaccination policy exemption. The reason for this is because the cruise company adheres to the CDC’s vaccination requirements for cruises.
Royal Caribbean, a competitor, follows the CDC’s standards for unvaccinated cruises and hence is exempt from the 95 percent limit. According to this law, if there are 1,000 passengers on board, only 50 may be unvaccinated.
“Before we approve exemptions, we must validate the overall number of vaccinated passengers we have on each voyage in order to estimate the acceptable number of unvaccinated youngsters under the age of 12,” Duffy said.
This amount is readily attainable given the number of children that often travel aboard Carnival cruise ships. If one of their children does not qualify for the exemption, the whole family may be unable to sail.

With the FDA and CDC approving vaccinations for children aged 5 to 11, Carnival Cruise Line has been forced to encourage passengers to vaccinate their children rather than relying on an exemption.
“While the choice to vaccinate children is certainly a personal one, if you are a family with children ages 5-11 and want to ensure your ability to sail together, we advise you to think about your vaccine options,” says Christine Duffy.
Until March 2022, the Health Protocols will be extended.
By the end of March 2022, Carnival Cruise Line will have its full fleet operating. The cruise company has extended the present onboard and pre-boarding measures by one month, until March 2022, due to the success of fully vaccinated trips. Carnival’s protocols had previously been extended to February 2022.

This implies that the vaccine and testing regulations will be in effect until then, at the very least, for all Carnival cruise ships that are now in service.
“Last month, we revealed our intentions to run vaccinated cruises through February 2022, and we are writing to share that we will continue to operate with the same procedures that we’ve had in place until the end of March 2022,” the letter to passengers booked aboard a Carnival Cruise read. Our vaccination trips continue to be extremely successful, and our passengers continue to be very pleased with our onboard experience while having a safe and fun holiday.”

With an increasing number of Caribbean locations requiring cruise ships to be completely vaccinated before docking or landing passengers via tenders, it’s no surprise that Carnival has decided to go even farther.
