A new low-cost service, European River Cruises – a joint venture between Crystal River Cruises and Interworld – launched last week on the River Liffey in Dublin. This new river cruise company promises a unique, intimate river cruise experience as experienced on the O2Yriente. With this launch, the company joins the list of European river cruise services that include Holland America, Princes of Asturias, Crystal River Cruises and Monsoon River Cruises.

Crystal River Cruises has announced that they will resume service until the end of the year on the beautiful River Rhine. The company will take their nine ships down the Rhine to its source in Switzerland, the Black Forest, the Rhine Falls, and the River Main. The itinerary will take cruisers along the Rhine for 7,000 nautical miles, all the way back to the sea for the first time since the spring of 1991. It’s an incredible journey down the Rhine, but don’t take my word for it, read the article to see why Crystal River Cruises is the only way to go.

For the next few weeks, Crystal River Cruises is celebrating its return to Europe with two special sailings this month. As well as offering the full range of European cruising, these sailings will showcase the rejuvenated Crystal River in all her glory. Launched in 2008, the Crystal River is one of the most innovative and technologically advanced sailing vessels in Europe.

WHY IT RATES: Crystal River Excursions began its European river cruises today, with the Crystal Ravel sailing for the first time in almost 18 months, and the Crystal Debussy sailing tomorrow. Crystal Ravel sailed from Vilshofen on a seven-night Danube itinerary that included stops in Germany, Austria, and Hungary, onboard overnights in Vienna and Budapest, and sailing through the UNESCO-listed Wachau Valley. After a nearly 18-month hiatus, the officers and crew of the Crystal Ravel welcomed visitors back to Vilshofen. Tomorrow, August 30, the Crystal Debussy will embark on a seven-night Rhine cruise from Basel, with stops in Switzerland, France, Germany, and the Netherlands, as well as overnight stops at Koblenz and Amsterdam.

“We are thrilled to welcome our guests back on board after months of planning and preparation to experience the attentive service and personalized care of our devoted staff on cruises to the best-loved destinations of Europe’s scenic rivers and waterways,” Walter Littlejohn, Crystal River Cruises senior vice president and managing director, said.

What’s Hot Right Now

“We know our guests are looking forward to returning to our ships’ luxury cabins, Michelin-starred food, and unmatched social areas, as well as the stimulating discoveries that lie ashore,” Littlejohn added. “River cruising’s effortless luxury and relaxation seem perfectly designed for the moment in which we find ourselves, allowing our guests to escape to a world of natural beauty along Europe’s rivers, highlighted by great art, architecture, and history, and with unique opportunities for cultural immersion to create cherished memories of a lifetime.”

The crews have been preparing the ships, updating their training, and adopting new Crystal Clean+ processes that meet the specific difficulties of COVID-19 while adhering to strict health standards to ensure passengers have a safe and pleasant trip. Crystal River Cruises requires all passengers and staff to be completely vaccinated as part of Crystal Clean+, which enables guests to explore onshore freely owing to the required vaccine requirement.

The line’s luxury all-suite river ships, which accommodate half as many passengers as comparable sized boats and provide a la carte restaurants, open-seating dining, and an abundance of tables for two, are naturally roomy.

In 2021, Crystal River Cruises will offer 32 voyages ranging from seven to eleven nights on the Rhine, Danube, and Moselle rivers, with a focus on the line’s most popular and destination-rich seven-night Rhine and Danube itineraries, as well as voyages showcasing the fairytale beauty of the Mosel Wine Region. Every river trip in 2021 includes at least two overnight stays, with many providing three, enabling passengers to fully immerse themselves in the beauty and history of the ports, or travel to neighboring cities for wider experiences.

Crystal River Cruises’ deployment in 2021 represents a gradual return to service and the consolidation of sailings from Crystal Bach and Crystal Mahler to comparable trips on Crystal Debussy and Crystal Ravel, their identical sister ships. On certain trips, there is still time and opportunity to book, including limited availability on 2021 Holiday cruises. Crystal Ravel will ring in the New Year in Vienna with a three-night stay, while Crystal Debussy will spend New Year’s Eve in Amsterdam with a two-night stay to take advantage of the city’s celebrations and enrichment.

Timeless medieval villages blend wonderfully with contemporary cultural and commercial centers on Crystal River Cruises’ itinerary. Guests may see Melk’s Benedictine Abbey, Vienna’s famous Ringstrasse, and Amsterdam’s windmills, as well as sail along the Rhine River Gorge, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Crystal’s Destination Discoveries feature complimentary and optional curated experiences ashore on every voyage, as well as Signature Events and extended journeys designed to enhance the journey for guests with a variety of interests, including a complimentary Signature Event at the Belvedere Palace in Vienna for select 2021 Crystal Ravel sailings.

The Rhine-Class river ships from Crystal are the first and only all-balcony, all-suite, all-butler boats in Europe, with every type of accommodation above the water line. Panoramic Balcony-WindowsTM are standard in all suites, and most categories have walk-in closets and twin vanity bathrooms.

Every accommodation category on Crystal’s river ships has a private butler, king-sized mattresses, Caudalie toiletries, robes and slippers, and wall-mounted flat-screen HD TVs. Farm-to-table food in various open-seating restaurants, including the exquisite Waterside Restaurant, eponymous Bistro cafés, and the private Vintage Room; and entertainment, enrichment presentations, and panoramic views of the countryside in the Palm Court. Guests are taken on excursions in luxury motor coaches with free water and Wi-Fi for additional convenience and comfort, demonstrating Crystal’s attention to detail.
