Disney Cruise Line has updated their policy on masks at the parks. While Disney is not banning them completely, many people will have to cover up or risk losing their spot in line for attractions like Space Mountain and Splash Mountain.
Disney Cruise Line has updated their policy on masks. Only guests 21 years of age or older are allowed to wear a mask in public areas, but children under the age of 10 can still wear masks in designated family-friendly areas. Read more in detail here: disney cruise mask policy 2022.
For sailings beginning March 11, Disney Cruise Line is easing its mask requirement, although certain masks will still be needed on board. Guests who have made a reservation should keep up to speed on current rules so that they are fully prepared for their spectacular ocean adventure.
The Disney Mask Mandate Will Be Lifted
Disney Cruise Line has indicated that, beginning of March 11, 2022, it would reduce its onboard mask rule for sailings leaving from U.S. ports, according to revised COVID-19 standards on its website. “Face coverings will be optional in most interior spaces across our ships commencing March 11, 2022 for sailings originating from a U.S. port of departure,” the rules indicate.
However, there are certain exceptions. In the Walt Disney Theater — the enormous, main lounge where full-cast live shows are staged – all visitors ages 2 and up, even those who have been completely vaccinated, must continue to wear masks. Because this theater is often packed, it’s understandable that safeguards will be maintained at the venue, as social distance would be difficult.

Prior to March 11, all guests ages 2 and up must wear masks in all indoor places, regardless of vaccination status, except in their cabins or when actively eating and drinking. “Actively eating and drinking” aboard Disney cruises is defined as staying stationary and keeping a suitable distance from other passengers.
Guests must follow local COVID-19 health and safety rules at ports of call at all times, regardless of aboard procedures, which may include mask wearing and other requirements. Onboard Disney cruises, masks are not needed in outside areas.
Young visitors are still required to wear masks at times.
Because children under the age of five are not eligible for vaccination at this time, the youngest Disney Cruise Line passengers must continue wear masks aboard after March 11. In Youth Activity areas, where numerous youngsters will be together and closely engaging, guests under the age of 5 must still wear facial coverings.
The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, where magical makeovers and Princess-in-Training courses are done, will now need masks for small tourists.
After March 11, guests who have not been vaccinated, such as young cruisers who are not eligible for COVID-19 immunizations, are advised, but not required, to wear masks in interior areas.
Guidelines are similar to those used by other cruise operators.
As COVID-19 cases decline globally after the Omicron variant spike, Disney Cruise Line is one of the last major cruise operators to reduce mask restrictions. This is logical, given that Disney’s ships carry significantly more youngsters, especially children under the age of 5, who are now immune to immunization.
Royal Caribbean International was the first to abolish its mask requirement, which went into effect on February 25, however youngsters in youth programs, including those on Disney Cruise Line, are still obliged to wear masks. Carnival Cruise Line and Norwegian Cruise Line have lifted their mask requirements as of March 1, and many other cruise lines have followed suit.
Passengers on all cruise lines are required to follow local regulations at all ports of call. Masks are also necessary at cruise ports for both embarkation and disembarkation.
Health and safety standards will continue to be updated and adjusted as the pandemic situation evolves, as all cruise passengers have experienced in recent weeks and months.
While the easing of mask requirements on some cruise lines is a positive indication for many passengers, all passengers should remain watchful and keep up to current on vaccination needs, pre-cruise testing choices, onboard procedures, and other information for each trip they have booked.
Disney Cruise Line updated their “disney cruise updates” policy, which states that guests must wear masks when on the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder.
