United Airlines will require all employees to be vaccinated starting late October. The company is following the lead of other large companies that have already made similar moves, including Walmart and Disney.

United Airlines will require all employees to be vaccinated starting late October. The company is also requiring that passengers have the vaccine before boarding a flight. Read more in detail here: which airlines require covid vaccine for passengers.

Beginning in late October, United Airlines will require all employees to get vaccinated.

All United Airlines workers will be required to get vaccinated. This rule will take effect five weeks after the FDA has given complete clearance to a Covid-19 vaccine, or five weeks after September 20.

In an employee letter sent out Friday, United CEO Scott Kirby and President Brett Hart stated, “We realize some of you may disagree with our decision to mandate the vaccination for all United workers.” “However, there is no greater duty we have to you and your coworkers than to guarantee your safety at work, and the facts are clear: everyone is safer when everyone gets vaccinated.”

United Airlines employees must upload proof that they received two doses of Pfizer or Moderna vaccines or one dose of Johnson & Johnson’s single dose five weeks after federal officials give full approval to them or by Oct. 25, whichever is first, the executives said. Exceptions will be made for certain health issues or religious reasons, United said.

The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is anticipated to be completely approved by the FDA next month, followed by the Moderna vaccine soon after that.

Scott Kirby, the company’s CEO, said in January that all workers will be required to get vaccinated. He also claimed that he had put in place vaccine-only seating areas, but that the government would not allow it.

Delta, on the other hand, claims that new workers must only be vaccinated, while Ameican has no plans to mandate immunization (though American CEO Doug Parker has said that competitive pressure could require them to change their position).

Knowing that staff have been vaccinated is reassuring for consumers, but most of the people you interact with are other customers, not employees, and there will be no requirement that all passengers have been vaccinated.

The CDC said in its mask advice that vaccinated people may be equally as likely as uninfected people to transmit the virus if they get sick. Vaccine mandates, on the other hand, are nonetheless beneficial in protecting others, and the CDC advice was deceptive.

  • Individuals who have been vaccinated are still less prone to get sick in the first place.
  • Vaccinated people who get sick seem to be infectious for shorter lengths of time, even though their virus levels are comparable.

Indeed, the research on which the CDC advice is based are far from conclusive; the Provincetown study, for example, does not always demonstrate transmission from vaccinated people and includes mainly indoor activities (much of it was intimate activity).

More vaccination implies less viral mutations and less dissemination. It implies fewer hospitalizations and less severe illness. It implies that there is less danger in the workplace and that there is less transmission between workers and between staff and consumers. However, the degree of risk reduction is debatable, particularly because the person in the middle seat next to you may not be vaccinated.

More From the Wing’s Perspective

Delta Airlines will require all passengers to be vaccinated starting late October. United Airlines is also requiring their employees to be vaccinated, but they are not mandating it for passengers. Reference: delta airlines vaccine mandate for passengers.
