The Bilt app is an award-winning travel booking website that lets you find the cheapest flights and hotels, plus earn miles on every purchase. When they ran a promotion to get Americans inside Canada for free, demand exploded with over half of all requests coming from American users. That’s when they decided to introduce their new “Unprecedented” search function which will help them reduce capacity issues during peak season by identifying seats available before the general public learns about it through social media or other means.
The “bilt rewards waiting list” is a new feature that has been added to the Bilt App. This feature allows users to search for award availability inside their app.
Unprecedented: Inside the Bilt App, you may search for American and Air Canada award availability.

The Bilt Mastercard features no annual charge, allows you to earn points by paying rent with your card, and offers bonus categories comparable to those found on the Sapphire Preferred Card (2x travel, 3x dining). This card may make you 50,000 points wealthier each year if you rent an apartment or a home, and points transfer to amazing airline and hotel partners.
It’s a fantastic travel card, and it’s also the finest no-annual-fee card. That’s true even if you’re not part of their target demographic (I have the card and I own my home, I do not rent). I bring up the demographic because it’s so appealing to loyalty program partners, and it seems to be enabling them to do some pretty cool things. Inside the Bilt app, you can now search for award availability with American Airlines AAdvantage and Air Canada Aeroplan, with a button to transfer points directly above the award search results.
Here’s why it’s so fascinating.
- Once you’ve entered your search terms, you may switch between AAdvantage and Aeroplan.
- The results are sent quickly.
- This is unusual; other transferable credit cards, such as Chase, Citi, American Express, Capital One, and Brex, do not provide it.
Here’s a result from the American AAdvantage program.
Here’s a result for Air Canada Aeroplan.
Bilt points are worth 1.7 cents each to me. Points earned in the Bilt program may be transferred to:
- American AAdvantage, Air Canada Aeroplan, Emirates Skywards, Air France KLM Flying Blue, Turkish Miles & Smiles, Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, Hawaiian Airlines are some of the airlines that participate in the program. HawaiianMiles
- Hyatt and IHG Rewards are some of the hotels available.
In my opinion, this group of partners is at least as excellent as Chase’s transfer partners. However, scheduling straight awards without leaving the program’s environment is a first, and it’s now possible with both oneworld (American) and Star Alliance. Individual members will be able to easily evaluate availability and award price for their specific use cases as a result of this.
The majority of Bilt’s clients are young urban professionals. It’s a group that’s on the rise. And they approach them from their high-rise residences in major cities. Tenants in partner buildings may receive incentives by billing their rent to the card. That’s a fantastic way to reach a highly sought group via distribution. That’s the only explanation I can think of for airlines providing direct access to an award search API.
Remember that American Airlines has barred Award Wallet from holding any AAdvantage data, asking members to instead visit the American website.
To be clear, you can do everything yourself; just open a new browser tab for each software and do your searches there. Here, there’s a little improvement in convenience. What’s remarkable is that Bilt was able to do this while still providing convenience to program participants.
There’s a queue to join the program if you’re interested in their card – and if you pay rent, it’s a no-brainer for most – and it apparently takes months to be welcomed in at the present. However, you may join the queue by going to BiltRewards.com/waitlist, entering your email address, and being asked whether you have a fast track code. VFTW4BILT will welcome you with open arms. (I don’t get any referral credit for this; I’m just passing it along as a courtesy.)
You sign up for their waitlist, validate your email, and then input the code to access the application directly. I applied for a credit card using the code and was accepted right away with a decent credit limit.
